Its name inspired by a Kipling novel, the town of Kim Colorado was founded in 1917. The people of Kim have seen and survived their share of difficult times, but nothing could have prepared them for what took place in the 1920's and 30's, when the economy and climate converged to reshape their future. From the combined adversity of the depression and dust bowl there emerged three elegant stone school buildings, a testament to the will of a people to survive and adapt. Their construction, which continued for eight years during the 1930's and into the 1940’s, sustained Kim while it evolved from an economy of dryland farming to ranching. These three structures, proudly fronting State Street, have now served as the physical and symbolic heart of this strong willed community for over 70 years. FRC Windows & Doors demo’d existing windows and installed Sierra Pacific operable windows in the historic portion of the school. The new addition of the entrance, gymnasium and cafeteria is showcased by custom colored storefront creating a dramatic upgrade and modernizing the historic structure.
